Are you working on a service project related to organ, eye and tissue donation? Each spring, Donate Life North Carolina recognizes teen volunteers that have provided outstanding meritorious service to DLNC.
Goal
To recognize students at graduation that have -- through voluntary service, education and advocacy, or other forms of civic engagement -- helped address or make positive change involving organ, eye and tissue donation together with Donate Life North Carolina and its partners.
Recipients have the opportunity to wear a service cord and pin during senior graduation. Seniors completing the program will receive their service cord, pin and a certificate acknowledging their outstanding service in the weeks prior to graduation. Donate Life staff will also alert the students’ schools so they may be featured during volunteer service awards ceremonies or acknowledgment of their service included in their graduation programs. Students can be nominated by their project mentor or may nominate themselves as long as they provide documentation of their service.
Hours
Students are required to complete a minimum of 40 hours of service advocating organ, eye and tissue donation in North Carolina. This service may be in the form of a senior project, volunteer services with an OPO or creating their own donor registration drive.

Student Organ Donation Advocates (SODA), in collaboration with Donate Life North Carolina, offers another opportunity for student engagement. SODA is a student-led club that inspires and supports organ and tissue donation education and registration efforts in high schools and college campuses.
SODA is an initiative for students who are passionate about raising awareness and want to spark dialogue with peers, educators and their community about the benefits of organ, eye and tissue donation. Interested students can start a new club or by join a current SODA chapter as another way to advocate and earn 40 hours of service.
